Riverdance has been a global sensation for more than 20 years. A new incarnation of the franchise will be available to stream on Netflix from 14th January 2022 – Riverdance: The Animated Adventure.
The animated film features the voice talents of quite a few names that would be familiar to Irish audiences as well as a film score from Bill Whelan.

Riverdance: The Animated Adventure, follows an Irish boy named Keegan (Sam Hardy) and a Spanish girl named Moya (Hannah Herman Cortes) as they journey into the mythical world of the legendary Megaloceros Giganteus, who teach them to appreciate Riverdance as a celebration of life. Directed by Eamonn Butler and Dave Rosenbaum and featuring an original score from Grammy Award winning composer Bill Whelan, Riverdance: The Animated Adventure also stars Pierce Brosnan (Die Another Day, Mamma Mia!), Lilly Singh (Bad Moms, Ice Age: Collision Course), Jermaine Fowler (Coming 2 America, Friends of the People), Pauline McLynn (Father Ted, The Young Offenders), John Kavanagh (Vikings, Alexander), Aisling Bea (This Way Up, Living with Yourself) and Brendan Gleeson (Calvary, the Harry Potter series) plus features a brand-new single by Ireland’s musical sensation, Lyra. Riverdance the theatrical stage show , which originated as an interval performance act during the 1994 Eurovision Song Contest celebrated its 25th anniversary in 2020. The show is one of the most successful theatrical productions of all time. To be faithful to its roots, Riverdance: The Animated Adventure features the dancers’ incredible craft and skill, by utilising motion capture of their performances to create the animated dancing in the film.
The film will debut on Netflix on January 14th.
