Rodrigo Y Gabriela, the Mexican musical duo who are now based in Ireland, have announced that their music will feature on the soundtrack of upcoming Disney film Pirate of the Caribbean : On Stranger Tides.
This is the first time that the duo collaborate with Hans Zimmer, who is well known for his work on Hollywood soundtracks.
According to Zimmer, “The way we’re working, the three of us are sitting in a room, I play average keyboards and they play brilliant guitars and we’re writing cues together. There’s a force, a ferocity, about their sound.” (source)
The soundtrack is set to be released on Walt Disney records on May 17 2011.
The movie, which stars Johnny Depp, Penelope Cruz, Geoffrey Rush and Ian McShane goes on general release on May 20 2011.
